“Daniel Gonzalez and Jack Roden of Island Sotheby’s International Realty did a fantastic job helping us to purchase a home at Ho’onanea in Lahaina!  We were visiting Maui and we sought them out as we began exploring properties.  They listened to us and learned about our budget and our lifestyle.  Beyond that, we had little to tell them and that is where their expertise came in.  They described the various areas of West Maui, the difference between long-term and short-term rental properties, and the impact of property type on property taxes.  Daniel and Jack then took us on a driving tour that made the differences among areas and property types much clearer to us.  Over the next few days, we toured both short-term and long-term rental properties in various areas.  Quite quickly, we realized that we wanted to live in Lahaina and we wanted a property that was for us and our family and not a short-term rental.  Before we left Maui to return home, Daniel and Jack arranged tours of three properties that were all excellent examples of what we wanted.  As we flew home, we rank ordered the three properties and decided to make an offer.  As it turned out, our top choice had just gone into escrow.  Daniel and Jack sensed our disappointment and suggested that we put in a back-up offer.  They coached us through submitting the offer and it was accepted as a first back-up.  One week later, the home fell out of escrow and we quickly went into escrow on our first choice!  This all unfolded in the middle of March as the pandemic was becoming more real to us all.  There were times when we questioned whether to proceed given the uncertainty that we were all experiencing. Daniel and Jack did not attempt to influence us to press forward.  They assured us of their commitment to us as we considered our options.  Once we resolved to move forward, they worked tirelessly on our behalf in the new world of escrow offices working from home and inspections being done with newly-developed safety procedures.  We now own our home and look forward to spending a good portion of our year in Lahaina when it is safe to do so.  Daniel and Jack are true professionals and, as such, we recommend them without reservation!”
